MULTICHOICE NAMIBIA ENRICHES LIVES BY DONATING EQUIPMENT FOR PREMATURE BABIES TO MINISTRY OF HEALTH
In celebration of MultiChoice Namibia’s 25th Anniversary, the company donated six nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) units to the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) at Windhoek Central Hospital on Thursday, 15 June 2017.

Roger Gertze, General Manager of MultiChoice Namibia commented: “We are rooted in this country where our customers live and proud of the contribution we make to our communities. In line with our purpose of enriching lives, these units will provide a lifeline to premature babies who are not breathing adequately. Hopefully this initiative will be the start of a positive ripple effect towards Namibia’s future.”

Talking about the impact Dr. Benjamin, Paediatrician and Head of the Paediatrics Department in Katutura and Windhoek Central Hospitals stated:“CPAP units provide oxygen at a lower pressure and protects the lungs at the same time, doing minimum damage. They are less invasive, in other words, you don’t need to place a tube into somebody’s throat.”

Hon. Minister Dr. Bernard Haufiku, Minister of Health and Social Services stated:“I am delighted that the private sector has come on board to partner with Government to providing relief at a time when there’s a shortage of these units.I hope that this partnership will raise awareness of the need of CPAP units, and we are grateful that the process for the implementation of these units are already underway at Katutura Hospital and Onandjokwe State Hospital.”
