It is my great privilege to congratulate MultiChoice Namibia on their 25th anniversary.
Your excellency, it is an honour to have you here tonight, and we are most grateful that you have taken the time out of your busy schedule to celebrate with us tonight.

Business expert will tell you that very few start-up businesses survive for more than ten or fifteen years. As such this is an extraordinary celebration – 25 years of a business born, bred and operated in Africa by Africans.

Business experts will also tell you that a critical element of business success is a stable political and economic environment. MultiChoice operates in 49 countries across sub-Saharan Africa – and I have to note that Namibia is one of the key pillars of our business and is a model country for others. MultiChoice Namibia is a thriving and stable business – and for this, Mr President, I have to thank you, the Government of Namibia and the regulators for creating an environment in which international businesses can invest and in turn make a meaningful contribution, including employment, tax revenues and creating small businesses - so critical for a nation’s growth and prosperity.

A further key ingredient of our business success, is having great local shareholders who steer the ship. I want to thank our joint venture partners Kalahari Holdings. It has been a successful partnership which has stood the test of time. I thank the Kalahari Holdings board members and current Chairperson Milka Mungunda for their guidance, support and counsel over the years.

The third major requirement for a business to succeed is to have a fantastic product that fulfils the needs of customers. The DStv and GOtv services enable Namibians to keep abreast with the latest news, entertainment and sport from around the world. We have been able to showcase Namibia’s great beauty on the wildlife channels - as well as showcase Namibian stars and local television producers. Channels such as Zambezi Magic, KykNet and the M-Net channels bring you much of this Namibian flavour, and I thank Yolisa Phahle , CEO of M-Net for these fantastic channels . Similarly, I thank Gideon Khobane , CEO of SuperSport for delivering the world class SuperSport channels which presents the greatest variety and best sport from around the world.

We place great value on our partnership with the NBC and celebrate the recent commercial agreement we concluded with them. It not only enables us to provide universal digital coverage of the NBC channels across the entire country, but also assists the NBC, as the national broadcaster, to continue with its mandate to invest in the Namibian creative industries and to develop local content and skills.

In closing I would like to thank the dedicated and hardworking Namibian staff, agents and installers who make it all happen. I encourage them to ensure we always put our customers at the heart of everything we do. Our very existence is due to the loyalty of our valued customers – and our commitment is to ensure that you have the very best television experience possible – the best content, the best technology and the best customer experience – so I thank our customers for their ongoing support.

Thank you for being here to celebrate with us.
